Building Schools and Community in Ghana

Ground Breaking

With your generous support, the Kolinvai Youth Foundation embarked on the construction of a three-unit classroom block, a headmaster’s office, a mini library, and a staff common room for Kolinvai Junior High School. 

A sod cutting ceremony, deeply embedded in our traditions, marked the inauguration of the construction work. By cutting the sod, we not only permit the workers to start their craft, but we also symbolize the collective approval and blessings of the chief and elders of the Kolinvai community – a prerequisite to any major community undertaking.

On the beautiful morning of June 20th, we, the entire Kolinvai community, assembled in unity, joy, and anticipation, welcoming the beginning of what promises to be a beacon of hope for our children. The atmosphere was vibrant with the rhythmic beat of men playing the drums and the harmonious dance of the women, resonating our shared excitement.

The event was graced by local representatives and prominent speakers who highlighted the importance of education and outlined the prospects of our project to the community. Our revered chief and elders, representatives from the regional education office, and the municipal chief executive all endorsed the construction of the school, digging the first hole to symbolize the traditional commencement of our collective endeavor.

The community, moved by the commitment of donors and the project founder, pledged unwavering support towards completing the school building, an endeavor set to significantly enhance the educational environment for children in Kolinvai and the three neighboring communities.

Since the memorable sod cutting, the foundational trenches have been dug and concrete works are well underway. The elation among our community members is palpable as we celebrate the start of this educational metamorphosis that will set the trajectory for better educational access in the community.

To date, we’ve successfully raised $42k out of our $50k goal. Each contribution brings us a step closer to making this dream a reality. With your continued support, we can open up a new world of opportunities for Kolinvai’s youth!
